Don’t be shocked this season!

…At least not in your home because of low humidity. The cool, dry air is moving in and the moisture in the air is officially practically non-existent.  While this means you aren’t feeling clammy, you are instead dealing with enough static electricity that you feel like you could power an electric car.  The good news is, you aren’t stuck living in an overly dry home this winter because you can do something about it. Whole home humidifiers are an investment well worth the money since they have so many benefits. Humidity or lack thereof can be problematic for both your

Seal your home or spend more…your choice

Did your parents ever tell you to keep windows and doors shut because the outdoors didn’t need to be air conditioned/heated?  Now that you’re older you realize that what they were saying wasn’t just a silly little saying but very important.  Why would you want to spend money on heating the outdoors?  So, you keep your windows and doors shut when you have your HVAC system running…but is that really trapping the heat inside your home?  Well, yes and no.  It all comes down to how well your home is insulated and how tightly it’s sealed. Trick or Treat! Stay safe and warm

It’s already October…Where did the year go?  If feels like just a week or so ago we still were blasting air conditioning and eating ice cream to stay cool… oh wait, I think we may just have been doing that.  Anyway, it’s about time for your little ghouls and goblins to pick out their Halloween costume to trick or treat in.  The problem is, most Halloween costumes are made of fairly thin material or don’t cover skin completely, so your little ones are going to get cold if you live in an area that isn’t 70+ degrees all year round.

Customer service… it’s not just for retail employees

Having a bad leak in a pipe when company is supposed to spend a week at your home or having your furnace quit working during a snow storm can cause a lot of stress for customers, which tends to lead to, well, a lack of joy.  As a service company we are being allowed into a customer’s home to fix a problem during a stressful time in their life, and because of this we have to provide superior customer service.  Obviously customer service isn’t just a thing to provide during stressful times, but must be practiced any time there is

Repair or Replace- The epic question

During extreme hot and cold temperatures the question of should I repair or replace my furnace or air conditioner always seems to come up.  Most would say “yeah, go ahead and repair it, we’ll think about replacing next season.”  Next year the same song and dance.   But, when is it the better idea to admit defeat and instead of siphoning money continuously into a unit that just isn’t working properly anymore, to just invest in a new furnace or air conditioner?   Well, it depends on a few factors.  With a few minor changes in your spending habits, can you

How soon is too soon to think about your furnace?

The answer is it’s never too early.  August is the perfect time to seriously start thinking about upgrading your furnace because September is an unpredictable month for weather and the temperatures are downhill from there.  One year it may be 90 degrees the entire month and the next it may be in the 40s.  Because of the uncertainty, shouldn’t your furnace be ready for action the moment it’s needed?  If your furnace is only a few years old and you aren’t planning on replacing anytime soon, it’s time to set up your yearly maintenance. Ever heard the phrase “the early

‘Put on hold!’ 2013 Federal Efficiency Regulations

It looks as if there is a hold on the 2013 Federal Efficiency Regulations. This could mean some additional time to have a new furnace put in before new efficiency rules come back into play. The main debacle with this issue is that the new systems required different ventilation systems than previous units. The 90% AFUE units as we discussed a few weeks prior produce water vapor, which will rust existing steel units. This adds hundreds if not thousands of dollars onto your installation costs. The other factor is that the units are different sizes than many of the previous
