Well, not quite.
Thermostats are kind of like a good pair of shoes. Everyone needs one, but not every thermostat or pair of shoes is a good fit for a person. The home that always has somebody home will benefit from one type of thermostat as compared to the family who is only home nights and weekends. Thankfully, there are several types of thermostats specifically made to cater to your lifestyle. Some are fancier than others and can be controlled by a smart phone and have a back light to make them easier to read at night… Whatever features you’re after, there’s a thermostat that will make your life just a little easier.
We proudly carry White Rogers, Carrier and Honeywell thermostats for our customers. So, first you need to decide what brand you prefer (or leave it up to us…we are the experts after all!) Next, you have to decide what type fits your lifestyle the best. Below are three options for your consideration.
5+2-day model: This is the least flexible of all of the models. There are only two schedules that you can set on this one: a weekday and weekend schedule. Now, this can be just fine for you if you are gone during the week and home on the weekends or vice versa. So, if you have a perfectly set schedule, go for this type of thermostat. It’s cheaper and simplistic.
5-1-1-day model: For this one, you can set three different schedules: one for Monday through Friday, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. Once again, this is great if you have a set schedule during the week but like to change up your Saturday and Sunday. It’s a good way to have more control, especially if you have events on the weekends like church or ball games at set times.
7-day-model: Just as the name implies, this particular model can be set differently for every day. Do you go in at noon on Tuesdays and 3 pm on Wednesday? It sounds like a seven day thermostat would be the right choice for you. Those who have irregular work schedules benefit the most from these because you can set every day to a different format. Since these have the most functions, they do tend to run higher in price, but for the convenience, it’s definitely worth it.
